ProtectMyID is an identity theft protection service that will keep your personal information safe. It monitors your information through the major credit bureaus, watches to make sure no one redirects your mail or changes your address and tracks your social security and credit card numbers. Its fraud resolution agents can help you restore your good name in the unlikely event of identity theft while you're using the service.
One advantage ProtectMyID has is its plan also monitors your children's personal information, which is a vital service because children's identities are 30 to 50 percent more likely than adults to be compromised. At no extra charge, your children get the same identity coverage as you.
ProtectMyID primarily monitors credit bureau reports and public records for changes to your information that could indicate fraud. This could be someone applying for a credit card in your name, making an inquiry into your accounts, or anything that indicates a change of address or personal information. In these cases, this service notifies you to confirm that the change is legitimate.
ProtectMyID monitors loan and lease information, but only through credit reports and data from public records. Other services on our lineup specifically look at other high-risk sources such as payday loans, criminal records and in some cases, sex offender lists.
ProtectMyID monitors your full name, street address and email address as well as your social security, telephone and credit card numbers. ProtectMyID also monitors your address in case someone tries to change your address or redirect your mail. This service can help you remove your name from mailing lists, which helps to minimize opportunities for identity thieves to find and use your personal information.
If someone does steal your identity, fraud resolution agents from ProtectMyID will work with you and your creditors to restore your good name. All of the customer service agents who work with you to resolve identity theft are certified through the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
If you lose your wallet or someone steals it, ProtectMyID helps you cancel any credit or debit cards that were in it. ProtectMyID provides a $1 million product insurance to reimburse you for any funds your credit card company or bank is not responsible for, plus lost wages, legal defense fees and the hiring private investigators. Furthermore, this insurance covers children under your plan up to $2 million.
